2015년[제2권 제2호] 교회와 경제사회정의 실현

본 논문은 월터스토프가 제시한 정의와 평강의 공존 이라는 그리스 도인의 사회적 역할의 비전이 그리스도인과 교회에 어떤 의미를 가지는지를 검토한다. 정의와 평강의 공존은 구속의 은혜를 입고 의로운 삶을 경주하고자 하는 그리스도인과 교회가 경제·사회를 포함한 모든 삶의 영역에서 추구해야 할 목적이라는 것이 구약과 신약의 일관된 메시지이다. 특히 로마서 3장이 말하는 율법과 선지자에게 증거를 받은 그리스도 안에 있는 의 의 개념은 필연적으로 경제사회정의 실현을 위한 관심과 헌신으로 연결된다는 논지를 전개하였다. 또한, 성경적 경제사회정의의 핵심은 바로 약자에 대한 배려와 헌신이라는 점을 보였다. 모세를 통해 주어진 율법과 선지서에서 경제·사회적 약자에 대한배려와 헌신이 하나님께서 개인과 사회와 국가를 심판하는 핵심 잣대이며, 구속의 은혜를 체험한 자들이 마땅히 실현해야 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있기 때문이다. 끝으로 그리스도인과 교회의 경제사회정의 실현을 위한 몇 가지 실천 방안도 제안하였다.

This paper considers what meanings the vision of co-existence of justice and peace as proposed by Nicholas Wolterstorff bears for Christians and the Church. It is a consistent message of the Old and the New Testament that the co-existence is the purpose which Christians, blessed with the grace to salvation and devoted to a righteous life, should aspire in the whole realms of their life. It is argued that the concept of the righteousness in Christ, as testified to by the Laws and the Prophets (Romans. Chapter 3), is necessarily connected to devotion to economic and social righteousness. It is also showed that in the Moses Laws and the Prophecies the most important yardsticks with which God judges individuals, societies, and states are care for and devotion to the weak (social and economic) and they are the values that those who have experienced the grace of salvation ought to realize.
